The spirit of travel

A journey that nourishes you, a journey that strengthens you. This homestay program is a true springboard for sharing the sorrows, joys and daily life of the most remote peoples of this part of Africa. Nights in the heart of villages, stories and historical tales under the palaver tree, traditional dances, visits to local markets, encounters with craftspeople and discovery of ancestral traditions punctuate this deeply human itinerary.

Through each stage, you will discover the diversity of Togo's landscapes, from the forests of Kloto to the plateau villages, while experiencing moments of privileged sharing with your hosts. Far more than a simple circuit, this journey is also an initiatory journey within the ethnic groups of Togo, an authentic immersion where exchanges, simplicity and conviviality hold a central place. An experience rich in emotions, ideal for discovering the country differently, as close as possible to those who bring it to life.

Notsé and the Ancient Ewé Kingdom

Kpalimé → Notsé

1h3070 km

Early in the morning, you head towards Notsé, a historic city in Togo considered the capital of the Ewe people. This city holds an important place in the history and traditions of this community, whose origins date back several centuries. According to traditional accounts, the ancestors of the Ewe are said to have left the Nile Valley before crossing Oyo in Nigeria, Kétou in Benin and Tado in Togo, finally settling in Notsé around the 15th century.

You set out to discover the remains of the ancient Ewe kingdom, of which only a few traces remain today. Notsé nevertheless remains a symbolic place for this people, particularly through Agbogbo-Za, a traditional festival celebrated each year in memory of its history and migrations.
